It’s a loaded question, and one that’s front and center in many sectors of healthcare. We went through a similar song and dance in the ‘90’s with the rapid rise and eventual decline of the Physician Practice Management Company (“PPMC”) sector. The sector is again flourishing, and today’s spaghetti bowl is filled with many well-capitalized participants – from publicly-traded corporations, venture capital and private-equity firms, to large hospital systems and payers. All share a common thread: they want a hand in the cookie jar. Time will tell if they’re eating stale Fig Newtons or Double Stuf Oreos…
