ICD-10, the new code set to be used for report medical diagnoses and inpatient procedures, has now been given a finalized deadline. The announcement came on the back of an earlier debate concerning the delay of ICD-10 to at least 2015. Providers, payers and clearinghouses will need to comply with ICD-10 by October 2015, as planned by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
This portends the progress of digitizing health care in the U.S., as the industry struggles with privacy sensitivities and maximizing the use of technology.
